Lo scorso 7 settembre all’UBS Arena di New York si è svolta una delle serate più importanti, per il panorama musicale mondiale. Gli MTV Video Music Awards anche quest’anno sono tornati per premiare gli artisti musicali più apprezzati del momento. La cerimonia, in cui non sono mancate esibizioni coinvolgenti e ringraziamenti, ha consegnato le preziose statuette Moonman a ciascuno dei vincitori di categoria.
Protagonista assoluta Lady Gaga, che si presentava all’evento già con 12 nomination. La cantante è protagonista della serata, aggiudicandosi ben quattro premi come migliore artista dell’anno, miglior regia e migliore direzione artistica con “Abracadabra“, nonché migliore collaborazione con “Die With A Smile” insieme a Bruno Mars.
Inoltre, tra le artiste più premiate ci sono anche Ariana Grande con Video of the Year, Best Pop e Best Long Form Video per “Brighter Days Ahead“, e Sabrina Carpenter premiata per Best Pop Artist, Best Album con “Short n’ Sweet” e Best Visual Effects con il singolo “Manchild“.
Nominata canzone dell’anno “APT“. Il duetto tra Bruno Mars e Rosé, membro del gruppo k-pop BlackPink, che a sua volta vince la categoria Best Group.
A ricevere omaggi speciali alla carriera è Mariah Carey, che dopo essersi esibita in un Medley dei suoi successi ha ricevuto l’onorevole Video Vanguard Award, seguita da Ricky Martin nominato per la prima volta nella storia dell’evento Latin Icon Award.
Un’esibizione in ricordo di Ozzy Osbourne, il cantante dei Black Sabbath scomparso lo scorso luglio, ha portato sul palco nomi influenti del rock come Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Yungblud e Nuno Bettencourt, che si sono esibiti nei brani del frontman scomparso tra cui “Crazy Train” e “Mama, I’m Coming Home“.
